Speaker Bio
Jason Lapham is the Deputy Commissioner for Property and Casualty Insurance at the Colorado Division of Insurance. In this role, he oversees the P&C Consumer Services and Rates and Forms teams and works closely with the Commissioner and senior Division leadership to address the affordability and availability challenges facing the homeowners insurance market.
In addition to his P&C responsibilities, Jason leads the Division’s implementation of SB21-169, Colorado’s landmark legislation addressing potentially unfairly discriminatory insurance practices related to the use of external consumer data, algorithms, and predictive models.
Prior to joining the Colorado Division of Insurance in 2016, Jason spent ten years at the Kansas Insurance Department, where he held several roles including Consumer Complaint Investigator, Life and Annuity Policy Examiner, and Director of Producer Licensing and Market Regulation. He is also active with the NAIC and has served on multiple working groups, including the Third-Party Data and Models and Big Data and AI (H) Working Groups.
