Maxine Verne is Managing Director and Global Contracts Consultant at Guy Carpenter, where she advises on global reinsurance contracts and related legal and regulatory matters across the organization.

Maxine brings more than four decades of experience in insurance and reinsurance law to Guy Carpenter. Prior to her current role, she served for 23 years as General Counsel of the SCOR Group’s Americas Hub, with regulatory and compliance oversight for SCOR’s insurance and reinsurance operations across the United States, Canada, and Latin America, having previously held the role of Associate General Counsel. She later became SCOR Group Special Counsel, Reported Concerns. Earlier in her career, Maxine served as Senior Counsel at The Home Insurance Company and as counsel to a reinsurance intermediary, Cole, Booth, Potter, Inc. (formerly Sten-Re Cole and Associates), as well as the national insurance broker Reed Stenhouse.

In addition to her industry roles, Maxine is Adjunct Professor of Risk & Insurance at St. John’s University’s Greenberg School of Risk Management and has been an attorney in the insurance industry since 1981. She has been an active member of the Law Committee of the Reinsurance Association of America, serving twice as Chair, and has represented her organizations at the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
